Sir,
Your articles on Campaign for a Bogside Pharmacy (12th May, 2009) and Pharmacy Campaign goes to Stormont (29th May, 2009) struck a nostalgic chord with my father Sean.

Many of our reader may remember the Bogside Pharmacy which he operated happily for many years with Barney Ferris and assisted by Marie Jones. it began in the 1950s at 229 Lecky Road before moving to Meenan Square in the 1970s and finally relocating to Joseph's Place, Rossville Street in the 1980s. His remedy for stomach ulcers, advertised weekly in the Derry Journal for decades as "Quinn's Special Mixture" was so popular it was sent around the country by mail order.
Both men still remember the good old days with great affection. Now well into their eighties, however, and enjoying a happy retirement, they concede, albeit reluctantly that their own comeback is unlikely, campaign or no campaign!
Yours,
Brian Quinn
Hayesbank Park (Waterside).
