Sir,
John Tierney can't be serious in his defence of that grotesque mural at Columbcille Court.

The young people who paint-bombed it were surely protesting at the worst art work I have seen in years.

John Hume looks like he is recovering after a night on the tiles. Mother Teresa has two red eyes. Nelson Mandela looked better when he emerged after 25 years in prison.

Surely portraits of people who worked for change and for a more just society demand better art work than that?

When visitors to the city don't even recognise the images, shouldn't it tell the artists and those who launched it something?

Clearly a case for Specsavers for all concerned.

Yours,

A sight for sore eyes

I thought John Hume himself had paintballed this mural in disgust! The so-called artists had better get their paint out and brush up on their act!

The writer and KCB are right that the mural was not very good art-work, but I would suggest that the paint-bombs were thrown by morons because they are morons, not because their sense of fine art was offended.

Stop defending the indefensible.
