Sir,
Fuel increases and we moan even more about cost. But it is within each one of us to start changing things.

I never been one who was into bikes, if anything I found them a nuisance, but after a recent holiday hiring one I have realised that we need
to take life a bit slower and stop complaining about fuel costs and start doing something about it. How often do we take unnecessary journeys to the shop when we could easily walk or take the bike?

The fact is the more fuel we use in the home or car the more the government and oil companies make. It is all of us who are making them richer, we have been spoiled for too long on the cheap fast life, now it’s time to get on our bike. Yes it will cost a small amount of money, but it’s nothing compared to the running costs of cars.

In Europe more cities are now implementing bike lanes. Derry has some of these, but it should start to do more to encourage more people to use the bike.

I would class the car a luxury item, that should only be used when we have to.

Yours etc.,
