MONEYSLANE made the long trip to Castle Caulfield on Saturday to play Granville in the league.
The visitors started well and were causing the home team problems through J Thompson and J Davenport on the left.
They continued to press and had ple
nty of corners and possession but could not find the breakthrough on goal. M Ervine was working hard in midfield and had a couple of chances but seen them saved by the keeper.
Granville rarely troubled the Slane's back four and could have scored just before the break but their striker blazed well over from a good position.
From the start of the second half Moneyslane upped their game and N Bingham was causing the home team problems with great running down the right flank.
goal
Moneyslane got their first goal when a lob over the top was latched onto by M Gibson who ran through and drilled the ball into the bottom corner of the net.
The locals were now playing well with M Ervine and A Rowan controlling the midfield and the back four of J Porter, D Ervine, W Thompson and J Davenport giving nothing away.
As they continued to press Moneyslane were unlucky when M Ervine had a great goal ruled offside but got their second when a great ball in from the right by N Bingham was met by J Thompson who scored from his second attempt.
J Thompson was unlucky not to get a second soon after but his goal bound shot was brilliantly saved by the keeper.
Moneyslane were well on top and could have had another when a great ball by J Davenport put in A English but he fluffed his shot.
With time running out 'Slane got their third from a corner as A English scored with a bullet header to make up for his earlier miss. Overall this was a good result with an improved second half performance after a poor first half display and especially with new boy Allen English putting in a fine and probably the best on the park on the day.
