Artlink children's festival in Buncrana

Artlink's first Children's Art Festival will be held in the Tullyarvan Mill, Buncrana from Monday 14th - Friday, 18th July. Each day events will take place from 10.30 a.m. - 3 p.m. and the children will participate in a combined programme of workshops in art, drama and music.
On Friday, 18th, the final day of the festival the children will exhibit and perform their works. There will be a garden party, puppets, face painters, music and refreshments. Everyone is very welcome to this final day which starts at 6 p.m. To book your place telephone Elaine or Audrey at Artlink, 9363469 or email artlink@eircom.net or elaine@artlink.ie. Children should bring break time refreshments and a packed lunch. There is a fee for the event.

The Blessing of the Graves will take place in Cockhill on Sunday, 27th July. Concelebrated Mass will be said at the Grotto at 3 p.m. and everyone is asked to be at their chosen grave no later than 2.50 p.m. All cars must be out of the graveyard before 2 p.m.

A sponsored climb of Mount Errigal will take place this Sunday, 6th. Assembly is at North Pole Bar, Drumfries at 12 noon and sponsorship forms are available from Kathleen Doherty, 086 1615816 or Kevin Doherty, 086 3443716. All proceeds to the Alan Doherty Fund, Clonmany Mental Health Association, Hope and a Future - Ethiopian School Project. All welcome.

Volunteers are also wanted to climb Croagh Patrick on Saturday, 27th September. You are picked up at SuperValu, brought down by bus, fed and accommodated and return Sunday 28th. You must also raise 300 euro. contact Eugene, 086 2799267 or Jim, 086 8179066.

The success of the Indoor Market has been phenomenal. Large crowds have attended and great bargains have been snapped up. The event will again take place in the Plaza today and tomorrow so be early. Tables are £10 and no need to book.

Also this evening in the Plaza an art exhibition - 'Canvas Girls' will be held at 7 p.m. Admission is free and all are welcome.

Summer Hogmanay - which will be held the weekend of 30th August was a great success last year. The weekend brought people of Scottish origins and connections, their visitors and friends to Buncrana However, you don't have to be Scottish to attend as it is a Parish event and anyone with ideas, contacts, entertainment, history, culture and traditions is very welcome to a meeting on Tuesday, 8th July at 8 p.m. in the Parochial House, Cockhill.

Dunree Sports will take place on Sunday, 6th July in St. Egney's Park at 2.30 p.m. Lots of sideshows, bouncy castle, etc. This promises to be a great family day out and all are welcome.

Buncrana Senior Citizens' Commitee is urgently looking for voluntary drivers for the meals-on-wheels service. Meals are delivered on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Drivers are especially needed for Sundays. It only takes approximately an hour and a half and drivers are on an eight week rota system. Please contact Jim Henderson, 9361666
Scoil Iosagain is looking for old photographs and information about Buncrana of yesteryear, mainly the Main Street and places of work like the shirt factories and any photos or information about Swan's Mill. Any items can be left at reception by the latest today and all documents will be returned safely.

Yoga for Beginners will be held in the Tullyarvan Mill every Monday at 10 a.m. and Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. for 6 weeks. Telephone Geraldine, 9385082.

Card sessions are held in the Angling Centre, beside the Castle Bridge on Thursdays at 8 p.m. All welcome.

Old Time and Ceili dancing is held every Wednesday from 8.30 - 10.30 p.m. in Desertegney Parish Hall

The new WiFi Works will hold I.T. classes for all ages and a summer club for 10 - 15 year olds. No computer experience is necessary. For details telephone 9362288.

The Inishowen Athletics' Club trains on Wednesdays in the Leisure Centre at 7 p.m. for children 8 years and over.

A general knowledge quiz is held every Thursday at 9 p.m. in O'Flaherty's Bar with quizmaster Paddy Corr. The quiz is in support of Buncrana Hearts FC and underage development. Please support.

Coaching for the U-8 has started in Crana Collage. Anyone interested in helping should contact the U-8 head coaches Chris Walsh on 0860515438 or Finn Hegarty on 0862058949. All help is welcome.

Indoor hurling training for 6 - 10 year olds will be held in the gym at Crana College on Sundays at 11 a.m

In the GAA 10,000 euro lotto draw held in O'Flaherty's Bar on 24th June the numbers drawn were 3, 11, 21, 23 - no winner. In the lotto plus on the same night numbers were 1, 5, 26, 28 - no winner.
