Buncrana Tidy Towns committee is asking everyone to help keep Buncrana tidy this summer, especially for the next few weeks as the judges will be in town looking at approach roads, floral displays, fences, common areas, shop fronts, residential areas and general tidiness.
Last year Buncrana was top of category D in Donegal scoring 259 marks, so the committee is hoping the marks will go way up this year. The volunteers who turn out every Saturday to clean up the area have done a great job and they have developed a web
site - www.buncranatidytowns.com so you can keep up to date with different areas being tidied.
There will be a gardening competition sponsored by SuperValu. The categories will be small, large, residential, commercial premises and floral displays. Entry forms for the gardening competition can be had from Patricia Gallagher, 1a, Cluain Mhuire. The entry fee is 5 euro and the closing date is 8th August.
Kind hearted cyclists will be putting their best foot forward when they pedal their way around Inishowen in a bid to raise funds for St. Mura's N.S. Buncrana. The cyclists from the Buncrana based North Pole Cycling Club, amongst a host of other enthusiastic cyclists, are taking part in a 32 mile fun cycle to help rake in cash for the school. The school hopes the event will raise enough money to enable them to upgrade their outdated computer equipment. The event kicks off outside the school grounds on St. Mary's Road this Sunday, 29th at 10 a.m. The riders will then cycle from Buncrana to Carndonagh and back through Ballyliffen to Buncrana.
