Could all parents please return all Kids in Action Tokens immediately to any leader or indeed return them to the Schools as they will be very shortly rendered worthless.
The Scouts thankfully have had a busy few weeks. The annual cooking competition was held recently and thankfully everyone is still fit and well. A lot of hard work went into the competition as usual and indeed our own Rachel Allen AKA Georgie Hutchinson had a very difficult job as a judge. The winners on the night were led by Niamh Mc Donald. Her team comprised of Niamh McGonagle, Paula Coyle, Eily Mathews, Jamie Lee Loftus and Caoimhin Fogarty. Special thanks to the Girls School and staff and the parents who came in to help out on the night. On Saturday last we held a quiz based on health and safety. The quiz was held in honour of Christopher Hegarty who died tragically 25 years ago. The family of Christopher donated a beautiful Perpetual Cup to the Scout group. It was decided to host a quiz so that Beavers, Cubs and Scouts could participate equally. A large crowd participated in the quiz and the winners were Annie Cavanagh, Thomas Monagle, Tiennan Doherty, Eammon Harkin and their captain Stephen Kelly. Lots of volunteers came into the Beavers, Cubs and Scouts over the past few weeks to talk about health and safety. Thanks to Garda Seamus Lyons, Michelle and Paul from the Ambulance Crewe, Shaun T, Eddie, Eunan and the rest of the lads at the fire station, Bernie Rutherford from the Red Cross and Shaun Clerkin Garda Liaison Officer. Also once again we are indebted to St. Patrick's Girls School for the use of the premises.
