Getting ready for the GAA May Ball

Planning is at an advanced stage for the G.A.A. May Ball and Banquet to be held in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on 9th May This promises to be the social event of the Summer and already there is massive interest in tickets. A number of exciting extras are planned and there is sure to be a prize for everyone. Buncrana GAA is holding a registration evening for under 12, 10 and 8 in the Club House, Scarvey at 7.30 on the 25th February.
A Murder Mystery night will be held in Ballyliffin golf club this evening at 7.30 p.m. The eveninig will begin with a ch
ampagne reception and a three course dinner. Cost is only 40 euro per person. To book telephone 9378111.
The Lough Swilly Lifeboat will host a Grand Variety concert in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel on Thursday, 6th March. The evening starts at 8 p.m. and admission is 10 euro.
The St. Patrick's Day Parade will be held on Sunday, 16th March at 3 p.m. For further information contact the Chamber of commerce, 9321720.
The Inishowen Carnival Group is looking for volunteers to take part in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in Dublin on 17th March dressed in an outragous and possibly inflatable costume. If this is for you please contact 93 73375 or email: info@inishowencarnival.com
The Scoil Mhuire Transition Year students 'Pin Pals' are currently looking for old or broken jewellery for their mini company. They would be very grateful for any donations which can be left in the office in Scoil Mhuire.
Application forms for new entrants for September in St. Oran's National School and Pre-School, Cockhill are available from the school. The closing date is 30th April.
Scoil Mhuire Parents' Council will present a Flower Presentation by Josie Coll, in the Lake of Shadows Hotel, on Thursday 6th March at 8pm.Admission is 5 euro, including tea & a snack. An enjoyable night is guaranteed and the Parents Council would appreciate your support.
Zen Dao Karate Martial Arts (includes "Zen Dao Original Oriental Boxing" and Kick Boxing) beginners welcome and advanced practitioners from other styles who wish to improve punching and kicking power also welcome. Beginners will learn how to produce a KO with either hand or foot for self-defence. Adult Classes - every Tuesday and Thursday @ 8.30pm. -10pm
ZenDao Karate for children 6 years to under 16 years every Thursday 6pm – 7pm and every Saturday @ 11am – 12 beginners welcome. Vivid Performances has started the new season of children's speech and drama workshop and is held every Monday from 4 - 6 p.m. in the Tullyarvan Mill. 5 euro per child. Telephone Emma Porter, 086 3601537.
Card sessions have now resumed in the Angling Centre, beside the Castle Bridge on Thursdays at 8 p.m. All welcome.

Line dancing classes are held on Tuesdays 8.15 - 10.15 p.m. in the Plaza. All ages, beginners and improvers welcome. Contact 087 7538317. Also Ballroom dancing classes will take place in the Plaza on Thursdays, intermediate 8 - 9 p.m. and beginners 9 - 10 p.m. All welcome.
Buncrana Senior Citizens' committee is presently making applicaiton to the Department of Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs for grants to install monitored telephone alarms in the homes of the elderly over 65 years of age. Contact 9361666 for details.
A Mother and Toddler Group is held every Wednesday in Wain's World from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
WeightWatchers-Buncrana will be held in the Lake of Shadows Hotel on Tuesdays (you can enter by the side door). The first class is held at 5.15 p.m., the second class at 6.30 p.m. and the third class is at 7.45 p.m. New members are very welcome.
The Inishowen Athletics' Club has now started juvenile training on Wednesdays in the Leisure Centre at 7 p.m. for children 8 years and over.
Aquafit classes are also held in the Leisure Centre every Wednedsay at 8 p.m. ages 16+. No swimming ability is required and all welcome.
A Ceili Mor will take place in the Cockhill Community Hall on Friday, 22nd with music by Martin Duggan. Admission is 5 euro which includes supper.

The Cockhill Celtic Youth Club activities: Mondays 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. Arts & Crafts; Tuesday, 5.30 - 6.30 Under 8 Football; 6.30 - 8.30 p.m. Drama; 6.30 - 8.30 Under 10 Football, Wednesday 6.30 - 8 p.m. Under 12 Football; 8 - 9.30 p.m. Under 14 Football; Thursday, Hip Hop Dance, all ages; Friday, Club to be arranged.
The McConomy School of Irish Dancing classes will now take place in the Leisure Centre, on Thursdays from 5-6.30 p.m. Children from three years and over welcome.
A general knowledge quiz is held every Thursday at 9 p.m. in O'Flaherty's Bar with quizmaster Paddy Corr. The quiz is in support of Buncrana Hearts FC and underage development. Please support.
Ceili Classes are now being held in the Illies Hall on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Beginners welcome.
Coaching for the U-8 has started in Crana Collage. Anyone interested in helping should contact the U-8 head coaches Chris Walsh on 0860515438 or Finn Hegarty on 0862058949. All help is welcome.
Indoor hurling training for 6 - 10 year olds will be held in the gym at Crana College on Sundays at 11 a.m.
In last week's GAA 10,000 euro lotto draw held in O'Flaherty's Bar, Main Street the numbers drawn were 2, 12, 17, 25 - no winner.
