This weekend sees the much awaited Ar Ais Aris 2008 Festival.
In the Inishowen Gateway Hotel this evening the world premiere of Micheal O'Súilleabhain's 'Francesco Walks' at 8 p.m.followed by the famous the Pyros late night gig. Tomorrow in the Plaza is the Next Generation at 2.30 p.m. and on Saturday evening
at 8 p.m. in the Inishowen Gateway, Sharon Shannon and the Renegade will be performing again followed by the Pyros at midnight. There will be a Ceili Mór on Sunday in the Plaza at 4.30 p.m. Then on Sunday the Festival Finale will be held in the Inishowen Gateway at 8 p.m.
Buncrana's own playwright, Frank McGuinness has just published a new collection of poetry entitled 'Dulse'. This is a seventy page collection and is the playwright's fourth book of poetry. You can buy it in Mac's Bookshop price 11.95 euro.
A concert will take place in the Fowler Hall, Tooban on Friday, 2nd May at 7.30 p.m.This is the first of three from the Da Capo Concert Series for 2008 organised by an Inishowen community based group and tickets are 10 euro or 5 euro concession.
The Mayor, Paul Bradley with the co-operation of the town council is organising a Mayor's Ball which will be held on Saturday, 19th April in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel. There will be a champagne reception followed by a gala dinner. Tickets are 50 euro each or for a table of ten, 500 euro. All proceeds will go to local charities. The Gardaí have invited people in Inishowen to join them on their 10k charity sponsored walk. The 'Talk to Me' walk is held every year in the five Donegal Garda Divisions and proceeds from the Buncrana walk will go to Living Links, which helps families bereaved by suicide. The walk will take place on Sunday, 30th at 3 p.m. at the Lake of Shadows Hotel Car Park and proceed in a 10K loop via the Shore Front, Stragill and back to the town.
