Big charity night at O'Flaherty's

Tonight, O'Flaherty's Bar, Main Street is the only place to be when an event not to be missed will take place.
A number of business in Buncrana have come together to raise money for two worthwhile charities. Cancer Care and Muscular Dystrophy. The event will be sponsored by Wainsworld, An Siopa Gruaige, Frimur Printing, Buncrana G.A.A; Liberties Night Club and 0'Flahertys Bar.

Come along and enjoy the craic, watch grown men cry as the get waxed in places unmentionable. Local celebrity Nicholas Crossan will be compare on the night and spot prizes will be raffled.

At some stage or another most of us have been affected by the trauma of a loved one suffering with cancer. Muscular Dystrophy is an affliction that may not have as high a profile and for this sake we would like to keep it in the public domain. We invite you to come along and support these worth-while causes.

A Car Treasure Hunt in aid of Foyle Hospice will take place this Tuesday, 5th August. The Hunt will depart from the Lake of Shadows Hotel from 5 p.m. Your support would be most appreciated.

If you would like to help the Tidy Town Initiative with their clean up you can come along to the Leisure Centre tomorrow at 11 a.m. The next meeting will take place on Monday at 7.30 p.m. at the SuperValu Offices.

As part of the Tidy Town Initiative there will be a gardening competition sponsored by SuperValu. The categories will be small, large, residential, commercial premises and floral displays. Entry forms for the gardening competition can be had from Patricia Gallagher, 1a, Cluain Mhuire. The entry fee is 5 euro and the closing date is 8th August.

FAS workers are required by the Buncrana Community Leisure Centre, GAA, Parish and Loreto Convent Community Employment Scheme which starts in September. The Indoor Market held in the Plaza will take place tomorrow from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and every Saturday from now on. The doors open at 10 a.m. for sellers and there is an entrance in Ferris Lane for easy access. Admission is free. All types of stalls are welcome, home baking, food stalls, crafts, jewellery etc. and tables are provided at 10 euro each. There is no need to book in advance.

Weight Watchers will be held upstairs in the Plaza on Tueday nights. The first session starts at 5.30 p.m., 2nd at 6.30 p.m. and the 3rd at 7.45 p.m. All welcome.

A Teenage Disco - 'Fusion' for 12 - 16 year olds will be held tonight and every Friday night from 9 - 11.30 p.m in the Plaza. This disco will be well supervised by adults. All Spanish students are very welcome. Buses will run from Greencastle, Moville, Quigley's Point and Muff.

Volunteers are wanted to climb Croagh Patrick on Saturday, 27th September to raise funds for the Foyle Hospice. You must raise 300 euro. You will be picked up at SuperValu, brought down by bus, fed and accommodated and you will return on Sunday evening. For further information contact Eugene, 086 2799267 or Jim, 086 8179066.

Card sessions are held in the Angling Centre, beside the Castle Bridge on Thursdays at 8 p.m. All welcome.

Ceili Classes are now being held in the Illies Hall on Wednesdays at 9 p.m. Beginners welcome.

Line dancing classes are held on Tuesdays 8.15 - 10.15 p.m. in the Plaza. All ages, beginners and improvers welcome. Contact 087 7538317.

Aquafit classes are also held in the Leisure Centre every Wednedsay at 8 p.m. ages 16+. No swimming ability is required and all welcome.

Boxercise Classes are held in the Leisure Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. for both male and female. Telephone 087 7773323 or 086 0534476 for details.

Buncrana Youth Club Programme: Mondays and Thursdays - soccer youths 4 - 5.30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday - Boxing 6.45 - 8.15 p.m. youths 7.30 - 9 p.m. Senior. Wednesday - Girls' club 4 - 5.30 p.m. Basketball: Tuesday 4.30 - 6 p.m. Junior Friday 6.30 - 7.30 p.m. Junior 7.30 - 8.30 pm. Senior. Thursday: Arts & Crafts (limited number) minimum age 8 years 6.30 - 8.30 p.m.

The Aware Depression Support Group meets on the second and fourth Monday every month at 7.30 p.m. in the Buncrana Nursing Unit. If you are feeling sad, anxious or not sleeping you could be depressed. There is help available so telephone the helpline 1890 303302 or www.aware.ie

A general knowledge quiz is held every Thursday at 9 p.m. in O'Flaherty's Bar with quizmaster Paddy Corr. The quiz is in support of Buncrana Hearts FC and underage development. Please support.

Coaching for the U-8 has started in Crana Collage. Anyone interested in helping should contact the U-8 head coaches Chris Walsh on 0860515438 or Finn Hegarty on 0862058949. All help is welcome.

Indoor hurling training for 6 - 10 year olds will be held in the gym at Crana College on Sundays at 11 a.m
