Hospices to hold social night

The Foyle & Donegal Hospices Buncrana Support Group, present a social evening of Entertainment & Floral Art Exhibits in the Lake of Shadows Hotel, Buncrana next Thursday 24th April, at 8pm.
Admission is 5 euro which includs a savoury supper. Approximately one hundred displays and various prizes (all donated) will be raffled on the night.

Entertainment will be provided by Pauline Saunders, Kathy McCarthy, Stewart Buchanan, James Boyle
and Irish Dancing by Aidan and Rachael McGinley, who are all giving their time free of charge.
M.C. on the night will be Nicholas Crossan.

Everyone is very welcome. Please bring a friend and support this worthy cause. Tickets are available from any member of the Buncrana Support Group or pay at the door. Further information from Margaret on 9361114.

A two day collection for the Alan Doherty Appeal will be held today and tomorrow throughout the town. There will be a street collection and a collection in the various supermarkets. Volunteers are needed for no more than two hours each of the days. The last operation Alan had cost 240,000 euro. Many thanks to all who gave to the last collection which raised 10,994 euro. A sponsored walk also in aid of the Alan Doherty Fund will take place on Sunday May 18th at 3 p.m. The walk will leave St. Mary's Hall, Clonmany and proceed via Binion, Tullagh, Rusty Nail and back to the hall for refreshments. there is also a shorter walk available. 'A Place Apart', the International Flower Festival will be held in Loreto House, Linsfort from Friday 2nd May - Monday 5th, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. Friday - Sunday and 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday. There will be demonstrations throughout the weekend and exhibitions outside and inside Loreto House. There will also be competitions for florists and amateurs and gardening competitions for professional, amateur and gradening. Daniel O'Donnell will officially open the Festival and admission is 10 euro.

A concert will take place in the Fowler Hall, Tooban on Friday, 2nd May at 7.30 p.m.This is the first of three from the Da Capo Concert Series for 2008 organised by an Inishowen community based group and tickets are 10 euro or 5 euro concession.

A Parish Mission will be held in all three churches by the Redemptorist Fathers. The Mission will begin on 17th - 24th May. All parishioners are invited to participate.

An Alzheimer's Tea will take place in the Illies School Hall on Saturday, 26th from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. All welcome.

The AGM of Inishowen Community Radio will take place on Thursday, 8th May at 7.30 p.m. in the offices of the Inishowen Development Partnership in Pound Street, Carndonagh. All welcome.

The Swilly Gardening Club will meet on Monday, 21st at 8 p.lm. in the Angling Ccntre. Jacqueline Doherty, Willow Hill Garden Centre will give advice on summer bedding and how to plant tubs and window boxes. The competition is for the best potted bulbs or seeds. The next meeting for Forever Fathers will be on 21st April at 8 p.m. in the Inishowen Partnership Offices.

Card sessions are held in the Angling Centre, beside the Castle Bridge on Thursdays at 8 p.m. All welcome.

Pre-Marriage Courses for 2008 are available in the Pastoral Centre, Friday and Saturday 25th and 26th April; Friday and Saturday 30th and 31st May. Telephone 9374102 for details.

Ballroom dancing classes will take place in the Plaza on Thursdays, intermediate 8 - 9 p.m. and beginners 9 - 10 p.m. All welcome.

Old Time and Ceili dancing is held every Wednesday from 8.30 - 10.30 p.m. in Desertegney Parish Hall.

The Inishowen Athletics' Club trains on Wednesdays in the Leisure Centre at 7 p.m. for children 8 years and over.

Aquafit classes are also held in the Leisure Centre every Wednedsay at 8 p.m. ages 16+. No swimming ability is required and all welcome.

Boxercise Classes are held in the Leisure Centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7.30 p.m. for both male and female. Telephone 087 7773323 or 086 0534476 for details.

A Pilates Course for Beginners has started in the Leisure Centre on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. Telephone Claire, 9362723 for details and to book your place.

In the GAA 10,000 euro jackpot draw held every Tuesday night in O'Flaherty's Bar the numbers drawn on Tuesday 8th April were 3, 8, 12, 27 - still no winner. In the lotto plus on the same night the numbers were 1, 8, 15, 16 - no winner so the lotto plus is now 4,960 euro. 20 euro winners Charlotte Murray, buncrana, Sinead McLaughlin, Maginn Avenue, Margaret Toye, Carndonagh, Jimmy McBride, 66, The Woods and Michael Doran, Shore Road.
