The Buncrana Senior Citizens' AGM took place in the Nursing Unit on Tuesday, 8th April. Housing Aid Co-ordinator, Liam Porter gave a report on Housing Aid for the elderly and reported that the Health Service Executive will continue to administer the aid and all application for these grants should be made to Jim Henderson, 9361666 or any committee member.
Other committee members gave their reports and then Frank Trodden, chairman thanked Mary McCullagh, Marian Lynch and Mary Gill for their work with meals on wheels. He also thanked Connie Crawford, Anna Porter and the Director of Nursing for their wor
k throughout the year. He praised the work of the voluntary drivers and helpers and thanked all those who donated in any way and who helped out at church gate collections.
The committee apply for grants for monitored telephone alarms so if anyone would like one of these alarms please contact Jim Henderson.
The election of officers was then held and it was proposed that the present board stay on for another year and this was agreed. Buncrana Senior Citizens' Commitee is urgently looking for voluntary drivers for the meals-on-wheels service. Meals are delivered on Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Drivers are especially needed for Sundays. It only takes approximately an hour and a half and drivers are on an eight week rota system. Please contact Jim Henderson, 9361666

A walking tour of Fahan village will take place this evening at 7.30 p.m. It will start at the car park of the old St. Mura's graveyard and will conclude with light refreshments in the Presbyterian Church Hall, Tooban. The walk will be approx. one hour and fifteen minutes and will include St. Mura's Cross, the grave of Agnes Jones, the graves of the Laurentic dead etc. The guides will be Peter Gurrie and Ann Moore of the Fahan Community Council. On your bike for St. Mura's - kind hearted cyclists will be putting their best foot forward when they pedal their way around Inishowen in a bid to raise funds for St. Mura's N.S. Buncrana. The cyclists from the Buncrana based North Pole Cycling Club, amongst a host of other enthusiastic cyclists, are taking part in a 32 mile fun cycle to help rake in cash for the school. The school hopes the event will raise enough money to enable them to upgrade their outdated computer equipment. The event kicks off outside the school grounds on St. Mary's Road on Sunday, 29th June at 10 a.m. The riders will then cycle from Buncrana to Carndonagh and back through Ballyliffen to Buncrana.
