Enterprise agencies on both sides of the border joined together for a fun run last month to raise money for North West hospices.
Staff from Donegal County Enterprise Board, Derry City Council, Donegal County Council and North West Marketing took part in a 21 mile sponsored charity run from the North West Business Complex in Derry to the County Enterprise Board Offices in Letterkenny on Friday, May 23.
The run has so far raised €7500 for the Foyle Hospice and Donegal Hospice.
Runners included Peter Hollingsworth from North West Marketing Enterprise, Matt Peachey form Derry City Council and Michael Tunney, CEO Donegal County Enterprise Board.
Mr. Tunney said: “We ran, walked and crawled but we all made it. Everyone in the North West is aware of the great work the two hospices carry out and we’re delighted that we’ve been able to raise funds that will help them to continue that work.”
The charity run was the finale of the Ireland North West Business week, a series of seminars and business clinics in Letterkenny, Derry and Burt aimed to promote enterprise in Derry and Donegal.
The week was part-financed by the European Union through the Interreg IIA programme and was jointly coordinated by Donegal County Enterprise Board, Derry City Council, Donegal County Council and North West Marketing.
The organisers, Ireland North West, said they decided to finish the week with the fund-raiser because they felt the two hospices clearly embody the best of cross-border cooperation.
