Derry flights to Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool to resume within weeks

Destination Scotland: Dean village on the Water of Leith river on the outskirts of Edinburgh city centre and Edinburgh Castle.

Due to the current situation with COVID-19 pandemic, flight schedules across the world are not currently operating as normal, with most services grounded and others offering only limited schedules.

At present the only service operating from City of Derry Airport is the daily service between Derry and London Stansted, operated by Loganair.

This service was introduced recently as a temporary replacement to the normal daily London Southend to Derry service, which returns on July 31.

Prior to that it has been announced that Ryanair’s service to Liverpool will resume in just a few weeks’ time, from Saturday, July 4.

Ryanair’s service between Derry and Edinburgh is also returning on the same date.

Two days later on Monday July 6, Loganair’s service between Derry and Glasgow is set to recommence.

However the plans for a summer schedule for the Loganair Derry to Manchester route are currently on hold.

City of Derry Airport have brought in a wide range of new health and safety measures over recent weeks to keep passengers and staff safe, in compliance with advice issued by the Public Health Agency, as the fight against COVID-19 continues.

These include temperature checks using thermal scanning equipment, supplied by manufacturer Hikvision, which were introduced on Friday past. A new filtering system for arriving passengers, perspex barriers at Customer Service, Check-in, Security and Arrivals areas, social distancing floor markings, touchless sensored hand sanitiser stands, PPE for staff, face masks for passengers and a free secluded lounge have also been set up.
