Derry’s Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin has picked up a prestigious award for its accessibility for people with disabilities.
The state-of-the-art Irish language and cultural centre on Great James’ Street was recognised at the William Keown Trust Prestige Access Awards held recently in Omagh.
An Chultúrlann won the Derry City Council category of the award, the only recipient from the city.
Donncha Mac Naillais picked up the award on behalf of An Chultúrlann and speaking after the ceremony he said; “We are delighted to receive this award from the William McKeown Trust. Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin was designed to provide a modern, state of the art facility for the city. This award recognises the work we have done to create an accessible inclusive space that is open for all.”
