Are you related to Gene Kelly?

Ever wondered where you inherited those dancing skills?

Ever wondered where you inherited those dancing skills?

Calling all Kellys and Currans in the North West! Could you be a descendent of the twinkle-toed Hollywood idol, Gene Kelly, whose grandfather was from Derry?

The popular RTE series ‘The Genealogy Roadshow’ are seeking stories and family mysteries for their second series and want to hear from anyone who thinks they have a connection to Gene Kelly. It seems Gene’s maternal grandfather Billy Curran left Derry in 1845, and it is thought his father’s parents were also from the Derry area. The Kellys originally went to Canada and then Pittsburgh, the Currans (mother’s maiden name) are understood to have headed straight to New York. They are also interested in discovering any local links with US Vice President, Joe Biden, as rumour has it he has family in Derry too.
