Ballymagroarty bulky lift today

A bulky lift scheme will begin in the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank areas of the city today to tackle the problem of illegal dumping.

The scheme has been organised by the Ballymagroarty and Hazelbank Community Partnership (BHCP) in conjunction with the recently formed Hazelbank Residents Group.

Billy Page from BHCP said local residents had expressed concerns about illegal dumping and bin collections in the area.

“We are finding that a lot of rubbish is being dumped in the area. Eight tonnes of rubbish have already been removed from one field and we are hoping that this bulky lift scheme will stop that and provide people with an opportunity to responsibly dispose of their rubbish,” he said.

The bulky lift will begin today in the Ballymagroarty area and continue on Wednesday and Thursday and will take place in the Hazelbank, Norburgh and Coshquin area on Friday and Monday. Residents are asked to leave items out for collection in the mornings.
