Charity show jumping on Sunday

A show jumping event attracting competitors from across the north west will be held in Lifford on Sunday to raise funds for Lifford Hospital.

The charity show, billed as a ‘sportsman’s event,’ will include show jumping events for ponies and horses and a dog show will also be held, as well as a range of other events.

It will be held on land at Hall Lane, Lifford, on the Ballybofey Road, and has been organised by Lifford man, Sean Porter, in order to raise funds for the hospital in the town.

The equestrian events are expected to attract a range of competitors from Derry, Donegal, and Tyrone and further afield.

It will get underway at 9am with the 60cm show jumping event for ponies while the horse show jumping events will take place in the afternoon. As well as the equestrian events, there will also be a dog show held on the day.

Alongside the competitive events, there will be a range of family events including bouncy castles, barbeques and other attractions.

A number of businesses in the Lifford area have sponsored the prizes for the events.

Looking ahead to Sunday, Mr Porter said: “It promises to be a great day out for people of all ages. As well as the show jumping events for the local equestrian community, we will also have a dog show and a range of other events for the whole family.

“I’d like to thank the many local businesses in Lifford who have sponsored the prizes for the events. Hopefully we will be able to raise a lot of money for a very good cause, Lifford Hospital.”

Admission to the event is by donation and entry fee for competitors is E10. All proceeds will go to Lifford Hospital.
