Not as cheap as chips!
When is a cheap flight not cheap? - When you're flying with Ryanair.
I thought I'd struck lucky when I booked a cheap flight to Barcelona in September for two cents per person.
But I should have learned my father was right when he taught me - there's no such thing as a free lunch.
Turns out the flight weren't two cents after all.
After I'd paid my taxes, fees and aviation levy, it was then a further seven euro for the privilege of taking a suitcase. Before I knew it the bill has escalated.
I'd expected most of that I suppose, but what really got on my nerves is the way Ryanair tried to squeeze every last penny out of us.
My brother and his wife were told they'd have to pay an extra 16 because their suitcase was two kilos over the fixed weight.
Who do Ryanair think they are kidding?
We'd already paid for our luggage so to ask for more because a case is two kilos over is taking the knickers off the proverbial arse.
But no. Ryanair, the airline without a first or business class section now has a new system whereby you can pay to be first on the aircraft.
Thats right, hand over another 8.50 euro and you get to line up in priority boarding queue. Needless to say I refused to hand over my 8.50 and had my breakfast instead.
Once on board things went from bad to worse.
I'd been up since 3 a.m., but it was impossible to have a dose because of the constant announcements made by the cabin crew telling me about their range of exclusive Ryanair gifts, and scratch cards.
Who in God's name would want a Ryanair scratch card?
The return flight was just as traumatic. This time one of our cases was three kilos over. So there we were having to hand over an extra 24 euros for the privelege.
I doubt I'll ever fly Ryanair again.
As far as I'm concerned life is just too short.
Pants to that
Did Jeremy Paxman seriously think he could write a letter to M&S complaining about the lack of support in his under-carriage, and think the press wouldn't get wind of it.
I mean he is the press!
I don't think I'll be able to take Jeremy seriously the next time I see him on 'Newsnight'. In fact the only mental image I have of him at the moment is of him wearing a dodgy y-fronts, not a nice image to have in my head of the man who inspired me to become a journalist in the first place.
Any groaning or shifting in his chair from now on will just make me think that part of his elastic has nipped rather than believing he's trying to uncover a series of lies from a politician.
Jeremy claimed he was leading the campaign for the men of Britain when he wrote to the Marks and Spencer's bosses, but to be frank, that kind of support men can do without.
