Seany and the Land of Leather

It's official! I have started my new health regime and so far so good.

In the last few days I have ran an unconfirmed distance of about 12 miles! Now when I say 12 miles, it was probably only a couple but it seemed so long and treacherous. And when I say ran, I mean minced quickly down the road. Desperately trying to avoid the rain turning my hair into an abundance of frizz . . .

Is it strange to jog while carrying an umbrella? Where's Rihanna when you need her?

It's a while since I was at the gym. I've been a member for ages and, I don't know why, I recently stopped feeling guilty about going. Maybe it was that subconscious feeling of knowing that I was still paying the monthly fee (very energetic) or maybe I was just kidding myself into thinking "It's okay O' Kane, there's always next month".

Either way I know one thing is for sure - not long after Big Brother I did lose all confidence in going back. That was mainly for the reason that people generally wanted to talk to me about being on the show, which I usually don't mind, but it would always be at inconvenient times. Such as on the running machine, in the sauna or during a spin class when I'd be trying to focus on the cute someone in front of me but I am determined to stick to my new fitness structure.

Speaking of structures, there are so many new developments going on in the Waterside! I didn't realise just how much the place is expanding. Just the other day I was asked by a friend of mine to stop by and visit her in a shop called Land Of Leather.

Now some people I know might have assumed this was a certain kind store that had recently opened, but surprisingly turned out to be full of sofas. Who would have thought? It's great to see many new businesses and establishments being invested in here in the city. I'm personally holding out for more gay-friendly venues in the near future. Derry is currently home to Pepe's, the city's only gay bar and nightclub, yet the gay population seems to be increasing as much as Pete Doherty's court appearances.

Who knows, maybe we will have our own Canal Street one day. If any of you aren't already familiar with it, Canal Street is part of Manchester's biggest gay-friendly hot spot, filled with trendy bars, clubs, hotels and restauraunts. We'll have a whole street erected with Pride flags.

Maybe Derry will get that shop a lot sooner than we think!
