Donegal Vintage Club For Burt

The Donegal Vintage Club are holding their annual vintage rally on Saturday 18th August. The event, which will be held at the Grainan Estate, Burt, is expected to attract a large crowd and a vast number of exhibitors showing a whole array of items including cars, tractors, stationary oil engines and all kinds of collectors items including a collection of old oil lamps.

The main theme of this year’s rally is to have largest amount of Stationery Oil Engines running at 2pm. There will also be a number of trade stands selling different household items and auto-jumble where parts can be bought for vintage cars, tractors and machinery.

A thrashing demonstration with a traditional corn stack built for the occasion is always a big attraction at the rally. Another very interesting part of the rally is a craft tent where a selection of crafts will be on show and for sale.

Events will also be taking place in the main arena including the poteen makers, a hilarious show that draws large crowds wherever they perform, the journey men who will be demonstrating their various skills of bygone days, Pedro with his birds of prey, tractor events and for the first time we are running a dog show which is generating a lot of interest with pet owners. The rally will start at 11am and will run to 5pm (approx).

The club is very grateful to Donegal Creameries for giving the land for the event. Proceeds from the rally will be given to local charity.
