iCARE Celebrity Cook in Buncrana

Two cast members from Mrs Brown’s Boys, Buster and Betty, will be taking part in a charity Ready Celebrity Cook in the Gateway Hotel, Buncrana tomorrow night in aid of Inishowen Children’s Autism Related Education (i.C.A.R.E.). Community Chef Brian McDermott will begin the proceedings at 7.30pm with a half hour cookery demonstration and then Buster and Betty will do some cooking along with two members of the community Ollie Doherty from the 4 Lanterns and Maud Rainey, North West Regional College, Derry. Dr Flynn will be master of ceremonies for the evenin.

Each has been given a voucher for 10 euro to buy their ingredients in local supermarkets Eurospar and Supervalu and with those ingredients they must cook a three course meal! They will be filmed buying their ingredients during the day and they will each have a chef to help them. The chefs are from local businesses in Buncrana, Declan Carey from the Town Clock, Brinsley Reidy and Seamus Smyth from The Beach House and Ursula Murphy who works as a lecturer in the North West Regional College in Derry. The audience will then vote on the best meal. A great nights craic is promised!

i.C.A.RE. totally depend on the local community for help in fundraising to keep our autism centre going. We provide much needed respite for families and we are now taking on a new direction by having a youth club for teenagers. These children really have no other supported facility to go to and they thoroughly enjoy being able to meet their peers out of school. Up to now this has not been possible for them. We had the pleasure of Ryan Bradley officially opening our new Youth Club ‘Sonas’ last week. We thank everyone for their continued support and hope there will be a good turnout at tomorrow night’s event.
