Lunchtime organ recital

The first of this summer’s lunchtime organ recitals at St Columbs’s Cathedral will he held on Thursday afternoon. The series of recitals take place throughout July and August each year and have proved to be popular with tourists and local alike.

This year’s programme of events will get underway on Thursday at 1.10pm with a recital by Professor Desmond Hunter, a retired professor of music at the University of Ulster.

Professor Hunter is a multi award-winning musician organist and has played across the world. He was trained by the acclaimed Belgian organist Flor Peteers and will be performing a selection of pieces from Bach and Vaerne.

Dean William Morton from St Columb’s Cathedral encouraged as many people as possible to come along. “It will begin at 1.10pm and admission is absolutely free,” he said.
