Mayor’s Tea Dances

For those of you interested in taking part in an afternoon full of entertainment, music and dance, why not come along to one of the Mayor’s Tea Dances which are scheduled to take place across a number of venues during the next few months?

The Long Tower Youth and Community Centre will be the venue for the next Tea Dance which takes place on Wednesday, February 13, from 2pm-4pm.

For those interested a limited number of tickets are available and can be obtained by telephoning the Council on 028 71 376545.

On Friday, March 15, as part of the city’s St Patrick’s Day celebrations, a Tea Dance has been organised in the Pilots Row Community Centre while on Wednesday, April 10, the event will be held at the Newbuildings Community Centre and on Wednesday, May 1 at the Bishop’s Field Sports Hall, in Creggan, with the Tea Dances taking place between 2pm and 4pm.

Encouraging the public to participate, the Mayor, Councillor Kevin Campbell said the Tea Dances continued to be one of the Council’s most popular and successful events. “They are a great way for local communities to come together for an afternoon of nostalgia, music and entertainment. Since the closure of the Guildhall for refurbishment works we are delighted to be able to bring the Tea Dance to various halls and centres across the City Council area. I look forward to attending the Tea Dances over the next few months and meeting with people from across the community.”
