Volunteers urged to help Hallowe’en clean up

Volunteers are wanted to help clean up after Derry’s massive Hallowe’en celebrations.

The clean up, organised by Tidy Northern Ireland in partnership with the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, Derry City Council and the city’s Rotary Club, will get underway at 10am in Ebrington Square and St Columb’s Park on Thursday.

Katy Jenkins, Campaign Manager at Tidy Northern Ireland urged people to come forward.

“We’re looking for people to spare a couple of hours on Thursday morning to help tidy up the Ebrington and St Columb’s Park areas of the city following the Hallowe’en celebrations.

“Volunteering for a clean-up is a great way to get some fresh air and exercise and also do something positive for the environment.

It’s also great way to meet new people. Everyone is welcome on the day so please come along and get involved!”

Anyone interested in taking part in the clean-up should meet in the leisure centre car park by St Columb’s Park at 10am.

Equipment will be provided but volunteers are asked to wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
