Were you a nurse during the Troubles?

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) History of Nursing Network in Northern Ireland is gathering personal accounts from nurses who worked during the Troubles with the aim of producing a book telling the story of nurses who worked throughout this time.

As part of this project, a free event will be held in the City Hotel, Derry on January 19 from 1pm until 3pm.

The aim of the event is to gather stories and photographs from local nurses and midwives connected to that era.

Margaret Graham, who is leading the group, said: “The RCN Northern Ireland History of Nursing Network wants to record the ‘real life’ stories of nurses in a way that reflects the diversity of nursing across all service areas and all regions during this prolonged period of unrest.”

Anyone wishing to attend the event or obtain further information can contact the RCN on Tel: 028 90384600
