It's been a long time coming - 27 years - but come tomorrow afternoon Glack's gaelic players hope to make history.
After a nail biting replay last weekend that went to extra time, Glack GAC persevered to reach the final of the Derry Junior Championship by four points.

This weekend at Celtic Park the team has to do it all again when they face Lissan from south
Derry, but Club chairman Paul Fenlon said the team is ready for victory.

“This is the one we want to win. We have to win,” he said.

Glack won the Neil Carlin Cup earlier this year, but Fenlon said this is the “big one”.

“The amount of effort the players and team manager have put in has been phenomenal,” said Fenlon, who played for Glack about 15 years ago, “and I’m fairly confident we are going to win.”

On Saturday’s team sheet are names synonymous with Glack football, including O’Connor and McLaughlin.

Also on the team sheet are three brothers - Shane, Aaron and Jimmy O’Connor - and plenty of cousins and neighbours such as Edward McLaughlin, James Martin McLaughlin and Jason Harrison.

Fenlon said there is plenty of buzz about the small hamlet outside Ballykelly with locals busy sewing flags and bunting.

Fenlon also expects a good crowd at Celtic Park.

“This would be the big one,” he said.

“This is championship football. This is the one we want to win.”
