Limavady UUC Colr. Leslie Cubitt is calling for an equality impact assessment after some workers reportedly complained to him about having to wear uniforms emblazoned with the Borough Council name in both English and Irish.
Mr. Cubitt said he plans to raise the issue at tonight’s council meeting.

He claimed that a number of workers had raised objections to him.

DUP Alderman George Robinson confirmed he had also fielded complaints about the matter, but declined to comment further.

‘Responsibility’

When contacted by the ‘Journal’ in relation to the matter, a Council spokes-person said that, when personal protective equipment (PPE) is issued to employees, from a health and safety point of view Council has a responsibility to make sure it is worn.

Workers also have a responsibility to wear the PPE, the spokesperson added. The spokesperson was unable to comment further on the issue.
