A 20-year-old woman from the Bogside area of the city who is being held on remand, has been fined £300 for trying to break a car window with a ghetto blaster in Altnagelvin Hospital car park.
Siobhan Harkin, Elmwood Street, who was described by her solicitor in court as an “exemplary inmate,” was fined after she was caught on hospital CCTV on 29th November last year, attempting to smash the window of a Vauxhall Corsa car by throwing a ghetto blaster at it whilst arguing with her boyfriend.

The court heard that Harkin, who claims she has no memory of the night, had been fighting with her boyfriend in the hospital car park after he hit her over the head with a beer bottle.

“My client has been doing very well since she has been in custody, I have been told that her behaviour is improving and she has been co-operating with prison wardens,” defence solicitor said.

Harkin is currently being held on remand for alleged separate offences until she appears before the Crown Court.
