A 23-year-old Limavady man who forced his way into his ex-partner's home by kicking her door down has been sentenced to one month behind bars.
Gareth McDowell of Glenmill Park in the town - currently serving a sentence at Maghaberry Jail - went to his ex-partner's home at around 5am on January 26, demanding to get in.

He eventually got into the house by kicking the front door in, and then went in and sat down.

When the woman woke up in the morning McDowell was still in the house. When she tried to call the police he snatched the phone from her before fleeing.

At Limavady Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, defence solicitor Johnny Sandhu explained the pair had been in a relationship for a number of years, and that she didn't want him in the house with drugs and drink taken.
