A 29-year-old Limavady man has been fined £300 at the local Magistrate's Court for possessing an offensive weapon and disorderly behaviour.
Paul James Steele from 13, Kennaught Terrace in the town was found with a knife at the Inn bar on Catherine Street on October 30, 2007. The same evening he verbally abused staff, shouting at them. Bar staff removed the knife from Steele. Police later discovered he had a chain on him, which he said was for his dog.

During interview, he also said he couldn’t remember the incident due to the amount of alcohol he had consumed.

Resident Magistrate Eamon King said: “You’re 29. You should by now have ascertained what your capacity for alcohol is. It is not sensible to consume it to where you cannot remember what happened."
