After endorsing three penalty points on the driving licence of a 61-year-old nun in Limavady Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, Resident Magistrate Eamon King asked for her to pray for him.
Sister Ann Brady of 12 Cloghoe Heights in Newry was clocked doing 75mph – 15 miles in excess of the limit – in her Vauxhall on the Foreglen Road on December 5, 2007.

Defence solicitor Peter Jack said Sister Ann was a Mercy nun and had travelled to Kenya, Zambia and Nigeria on missionary work.

Pleading for mercy for his client, Mr. Jack added: “There used to be such a thing called discretion. It’s a pity after four decades of blemish-free driving she now has points.”

Mr. King fined her £60, gave her the three penalty points and added: “Ask her to pray for me.”
