A variety concert held recently in Bocan Hall, Culdaff raised a total of 1,700 euro which has been distributed equally to Action Inishowen classes for children and St. Boden's National School, Culdaff. Training for both teams continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at the changed time of 7.30 p.m. sharp. The winning ticket for the Manchester United v Chelsea games was 45 with the ticket for the last goal scored being 87. The winners were: J. P. Thompson while the last goal was claimed by Carolyn McFeely, McGuinness' Bar.
John O'Kane held his last outing as Captain to Ballyliffin Golf Club over the Christmas period and there was a large turnout with excellent scoring. The captain had a good day himself winning the longest drive and the front nine on 19 points while the back nine was also claimed on 19 points by Paddy McDermott. Nearest the pin was won by Stephen Canning. In Section A Tony Gibbons was third with 37 points with Seamus Doherty second, 40 points, but the runaway winner was Don Ruddy with a superb forty-five points. In section B Joe McDermott was third with 37 points, Mick Murphy second on 38 and with that Mick is promoted to Section A, but the first-time winner in Section B was Pat O'Brien with a superb forty points. The incoming Captain is Mr. Joe McDermott and much speculation has already began as to who will succeed Joe. Joe's first outing is the St. Patrick's Day outing and this will take place on Monday, 16th March at a venue to be arranged.
Inishowen Gardening Club will hold their next talk on Monday, 26 January at 8 p.m. in the Wesley Hall, Bridge Street, Carndonagh. Danny McLaughlin from Carndonagh Nursery will give a talk on choosing plants for a seaside/exposed garden. All welcome to attend.
