Macklin Festival kicks off tonight

The 18th Charles Macklin Festival kicks off tonight with a wide range of events to suit all tastes with lots of live music and no less than nine exhibitors in the Art, Craft and Design sections, there's something for everyone.

The Month's Mind Mass for Patrick Faulkner, Gleneely, takes place in St. Mary's Church, Bocan tonight at 8 p.m.
Pat was the much loved uncle of Neily and Marian McCallion, Moneydarragh and John McCallion, Letterkenny.
Pat resided all his life in
Moneydarragh, where he was lovingly cared for by Neily, Annette and family. He was 84 years old and was predeceased by his only sister Teresa in 1965.
He will be very sadly missed by all who loved and cared so much for him.
May God rest his gentle soul.
Forty Five Card Drive in Gleneely last week were Seamus McCormick, Greencastle; Brian Diver, Crana View, Buncrana; Paul McElhinney, Moneydarragh, Gleneely and Eddie Duffy, Moneydarragh. Cards continue every Tuesday night.

Donegal County Council is to construct six social housing units in Dristern, Gleneely. They are being constructed as part of hte 2004-08 housing programme.

Draw winners: 1, Seamus Harkin, Gleneely; 2, Mary Ellen Ruddy, Ballabane; 3, Philip McCool, Carndonagh. The whist takes place every Friday night at 8.45 p.m. in Bocan Hall. Thanks to all those who organised and supported the recent junior disco in Bocan Hall. It raised 400 euro for the Development Fund.
Gleneely Colts F.C. Development Draw - 1prize, 15,000 euro, 2, 5,000 euro; 3, 3,000 euro. Two prizes of 1,000 euro each. Two prizes 500 euro each and five prizes of 200 euro each with an Early Bird special ticket paid in full by 1st January 2008 will be entered in a special draw for five prizes of 100 euro each. Sympathy is offered to Niall and Amanda McDaid, Gleneely on the death of their infant son Reese Patrick.

Training for both teams continues on Tuesday and Thursdays at the new time of 7 p.m.
The first team are at home to Cockhill this weekend. They lost 1-4 to Aileach last week with Brian McGonigle scoring. The Reserves drew 1-1 with Dunree last week with a goal from Niall McLaughlin. This week they are at home to Redcastle with players to report at 9.45 a.m.
Widespread regret was evoked by the death in Letterkenny General Hospital of Mamie Davenport, Culdaff. Mamie, who was in her 83 year was predeceased by her husband Andrew 27 years ago. A person of unassuming and quiet disposition her kindness and friendship won her a wide circle of friends. A most loving mother and granny, Mamie enjoyed life to the full. Her family was her top priority. She was a member of the Culdaff Active Retirement Club and never missed a Friday at the club in the Wee Hall or any outings that took place. Her presence will be sadly missed by all. The great esteem and popularity in which Mamie and her family are held was reflected in the large funeral which took place to St. Mary's church, Bocan where Requiem Mass was celebrated by Fr. Jim McGonigle, PP assisted by Fr. Joseph Morris, Bocan who both officiated at the graveside in the adjoining cemetery. Sympathy is extended to her sons Brian and Gerard, her daughters Philomena and Martina, her brothers Leo and Terry, her sister Nuala, grandchildren, in-laws, nephews and nieces and the wider family circle. May she rest in peace.
A Social will be held in Hillhead Church Hall next Friday, 19th with music by Peter Mac and John McGeoghegan. Dancing from 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. Admission 6 euro which includes supper.
A Ceili will be held to night in the Glengad Community Centre. Dancing from 10 p.m. - 1 a.m. and admission is 5 euro. Music by Martin Doogan.
Gleneely Colts F.C. are at home to Cranford in the F.A. Junior Cup while the Reserves are also at home to Cockhill Reserves. Training as usual every Friday at 6.30 p.m. in Gleneely.
