The fifth annual Inishowen
Ploughing match was held on Mills Farm in Culdaff recently with a large number of competitors and spectators in attendance.
"Conditions weren't as bad as had been forecast and we were more or less finished before the worst of the wind and rain set in," said Noel Doherty one of the Competition Organisers. Ploughing got under way before 11 a.m. with judges impressed by the standards of competitors. Not alone was the standard improved, but there was a bit more local interest in more local competitors this year too, which always helps. Points won in Culdaff go towards qualification for the National Ploughing Championships in Athy, Co. Kildare in September.
