Passing of Denis Canny

Widespread regret was occasioned by the death which took place at the Carndonagh Community Hospital of Denis Canny, Gleneely. The deceased who was 82 had been unwell for some time. He was the last surviving member of the very well known and highly respected Canny family from Cruck. Denis was a farmer and took a keen interest in all local affairs. He was a member of the Bocan Pioneer Branch and a member of Culdaff IFA Branch for many years. His funeral which took place from his nephew's resid

The Inishowen Methodist Church will be holding a cake and craft sale in Moville Methodist Hall tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tea will be served.

Forty five card drive winner in Gleneely last week will be Brian Diver, Crana View, Buncrana; Gerard Doherty, Ourt, Gleneely; Seamus McCormick, Greencastle; Neil McCallion, Kindroyhead, Gleneely. Cards continue every Tuesday night at 8.30 p.m.

Inishowen Athletic Club is holding a night at the races in Simpson’s Bar Tul Na Ri, Carndonagh next Friday, 23rd November at 8.30 p.m. Horses cost 10 euro each and tickets are available from Club members.

Inishowen Women’s Outreach (IWO) invites you to join them in their awareness and Fund Raising events for the 16 days of Action Against violence against Women from 25th November, to 10th December. A bucket collection will take place throughout the peninsula from 30th November, to 1st December. The launch of the website new poster and leaflets will take place on 7th December, in Tullyarvan Mill, Buncrana. There will be a coffee morning on 10th December at the IWO offices, Millbrae, Carndonagh.

There will be a night at the Races in Callaghan’s Bar, Quigleys Point tonight at 9 p.m. with proceeds in aid of Donegal Hospice and Oncology Ward in Letterkenny General Hospital.

Grow meetings are held every Wednesday in the Day Centre, Carndonagh Community Hospital from 8 to 10 p.m. ring Elaine at the Grow office on 91-61628 or Mary on 087-2330297.

Tickets are now on sale for the Gleneely Colts Football Club Development Draw with first prize 15,000 euro; 2nd prize is 5,000 euro; 3rd prize is 3,000 plus 9 other cash prizes.

Early bird tickets paid in full by the 1st January, 2008 will be entered in a special draw in January for prizes of 100 euro each and the big draw itself will take place at Easter 2008. Tickets are priced at 100 euro each and are available from Committee Members or players and local shops. Your support would be very much appreciated.

A twenty five card drive will take place in the Malin Hotel next Friday, 23rd November at 8 p.m. Two rounds playing to time at 10 euro per round, including supper. First prize Deluxe Christmas hamper; 2nd prize Festive hamper; 3rd prize: selection of festive goodies. Door prize.

Ticket to Inishowen Lapland. There will be a raffle on the night with proceeds going to the classes for children with specific learning difficulties in action, Inishowen.

The three year term of the Bocan Parish Council is coming to an end.
