The new lights at Culdaff and the use of Brandywell Stadium means that the Champions League will feature midweek this season and won't be creating problems in terms of a snarl-up in fixtures.
This year’s competition sees Clifton Villa, Moville Celtic, Mourne Harps and QPS lock horns in Group A and Clonmany Shamrocks, Dunree United, Phoenix and Brandywell Celtic compete in Group B.

All clubs have submitted their panel of players for the competition and the winners of section A play the runners up in Section B and vice versa in the semi finals.

The first four games will be held midweek under the new lights in Culdaff followed by four games scheduled for Brandywell Stadium.

Wednesday 8th October in Caratra Park, Culdaff, at 7.30pm

Moville CelticvClifton VillaG O’Kane

Moville under John Canning make their debut in the Champions League competition and will look to the likes of Gerry Gill, Malachy McDermott and Gavin Doherty in particular.

Villa have been excellent in this competition to date and were defeated in the final last year by a rampant Clonmany. They have retained the bulk of their squad and will hope that Sean Paul Nash, Brendan Doherty and Gary Cassidy can unlock the Moville defence.

All in all a tight game to call.
