Buncrana
The minor team played Lifford in the second round of the Minor Championship in Lifford on Monday evening last. After winning the first leg at home it was important that David McConnall’s boys stepped up to the mark with a victory that would take them
to the next round.

David Galbraith opened the score for Buncrana and points from Kevin Tracy, Patrick McMyler and an individual goal from Garbhan Friel gave the visitors a two point lead at half-time.

Playing with the wind in the second half, the Buncrana team came forward in numbers and were comfortable winners with a man-of-the-match performance from Kevin Treacy playing at wing half-forward. Buncrana minors will now meet Glenswilly in the quarter-final of the Championship.

Please support the club’s fundraising night in aid of Muscular Dystrophy and Cancer Care in ÓFlaithertaigh’s Bar on Friday, August 1st at 9.00 p.m. A number of brave volunteers from the club’s G.A.A. teams will be getting waxed by the ladies from An Siopa Gruaige and a great evening’s entertainment is guaranteed. Bigi an nag a leath I ndiadh a naoi.

Refreshments will be organised by Wain’s World, Fri- Mur Printing, An Siopa Gruaige and O’Flaithertaigh’s Bar.

Burt

The club extends congratulations to Benny McDermott and Joanne Evans who were married on Saturday and wishes them both the very best for the future.

After a few weeks off, the senior and reserve footballers should be returning to action this weekend. No definite fixture has been scheduled yet for either team but the reserves should expect to play the championship game against Moville.

There was no winner of the Lotto jackpot last week. Gerard Campbell and Stephen Sweeney each won e20. The numbers drawn were - 2, 6, 3, 7, 1, 4, 5. Next week’s jackpot is e600.

The U16 footballers played Termon last Friday night in the Donegal Championship but unfortunately they lost 6-12 to 4-9. It was still a good performance by the boys who played without a number of regulars, but their season now comes to a premature close.

The minor footballers suffered two setbacks last week after a couple of good results the week before. Last Monday week they lost 7-18 to 2-5 against Letterkenny Gaels in the second leg of their Donegal Championship clash. Last Wednesday they lost the Inishowen play-off for entering the ‘A’ competition against Moville by eight points. Burt now go into the Inishowen B final where they will play Urris. The game is provisionally fixed for Wednesday, July 30th at 7.30 p.m. in Buncrana.

The U12 hurlers travelled to play Buncrana last Thursday evening.
