It was disappointment all round for our senior men and ladies last week when both teams lost their respective semi-finals. Our ladies lost to Kilrea in the Derry Championship on Tuesday night. A number of injuries and players missing through holidays meant it was always going to be a tough task to reach their first Intermediate final but they have got a reputation as a team that never gives up and deserve a lot of credit for their efforts.
Then on Saturday night our senior men crashed out of the Ulster League semi-final, going down 1-4 to 3-9 to Lisbellaw. They missed a number of wides in the first half and when they did have the lead through a well taken goal, Lisbellaw went back up the other end to score themselves. While the lost of full-back Dee Doherty just before the break did not help, the lads continued to battle but every time they got close, the Fermanagh men just had enough to pull away again.
