The Under-14s defeated Ardara in the semi-final of the All County Championship on Saturday afternoon, played at Windy Hall, home of Errigal College VEC. From start to finish this was a superb team performance. Buncrana lost the toss and played with the advantage of the wind and rain during the first half and struck first with a point from Darragh O’Connor.

Ardara responded with three points before Buncrana struck back with good play by Peter McLaughlin and a goal from Mark O’Connell.

Ardara then levelled the scores with a well taken point. Buncrana got two further goals from Peter McLaughlin and James Wallace and points from Kevin O’Loughlin and Mark O’Connell to leave the half-time score - Buncrana 3-3, Ardara 0-4.

In the second half Buncrana got off to a good start with a goal and a point to go 12 points ahead. Ardara fought back to within one point of Buncrana with ten minutes to go.

In the last five minutes Buncrana dominated the play with James Wallace securing a goal and points from Ryan Curran and Denver Coyle. The game ended Buncrana 5-5 Ardara 2-11

The U14s, under the managing team of Noel Jones and Lawrence Hegarty, will be ready to take the first ever U14 championship title back to Buncrana when they play Cloughaneely next Saturday in O’Donnell Park, Letterkenny at 2.00 p.m. The management would welcome support from parents, relatives and friends so Bígí ann ag a dó.

Burt

The Burt Senior Hurlers’ challenge to reclaim the County Championship ended after losing to Setanta by 4-7 to 1-7 in Sunday’s final. It was heartbreak for the players as they sought to avenge last year’s defeat.

Burt started well and got an early goal but they went in at the interval only two points ahead after Setanta scored a fortuitous goal.

In the second half Setanta scored a couple of late goals to secure the win.

Many thanks to manager Tony McClements for his hard work and commitment to the team and all the club members and officials who helped the team this year. Thanks also to the supporters for their great support before, during and after Sunday’s game.

The club would like to thank Inish Oh! for sponsoring the senior hurling team for the final and supplying them with their Inish Oh! Sports drink.
