Geraldine reigns supreme in City of Derry's LGU Pendant

City of Derry Ladies
Geraldine Crossan took top honours at Prehen on Tuesday last in the LGU Pendant, the 11 handicappper carding an excellent score of 69 nett to finish one shot clear of the field.

Full results were - LGU Pendant - 1, Geraldine Crossan (11) 69 nett;
2, Lillian Hamilton (30) 70; 3, break of tie, Brenda Chauhan (15) 73; front nine, Ann Wallace (17) 37.5 and back nine, Eileen Moyne (19) 33.5.

Next week is the Kathleen Nevin Cup (medal) competition and a timesheet is in operation, please book on-line.



North-West Ladies

North-West Ladies Branch will stage their annual Past Lady Captains’ Day on Monday next, September 8th.

The day’s events will open with lunch at 12.00 noon followed by an 18 holes competition with dinner set for 6.30 p.m. in the clubhouse.

Next Wednesday’s competition will be the ILGU Medal and the draw has been posted on the Notice Board.

The following Monday, September 15th, North-West Ladies will stage a Open Teams of Three event and a timesheet is in operation. For for information or bookings, contact Gary in the shop, tel.: 00353-7493-61715.

Greencastle Ladies

Last Thursday the Greencastle Ladies Branch played for Mrs Marie Kelly’s Lady President’s Prize and a very popular local lady, Kay Doherty, lifted the magnificent first prize having held a one point lead of the large field.

Mary Gray emerged the runner-up with Siobhan McLaughlin in third. Lucia Mullen followed up her good form in Lady Captain’s Day to take fourth place.

The best nine prize was won by Carol Gallagher while Marian Devlin took the Committee Prize and Kathleen Morris the Past Presidents’ prize.

One of the biggest prizes of the day, the putting competition, was won by the reliable Marmie Gillespie.

The ladies ‘Player of the Year’ competition has just one more event remaining and six players are in contention. Helena Doherty has 22 points, Lucia Mullen 23, Veronica McLaughlin and Mar Hasson 26 and Siobhan McLaughlin 30 but the leader going into the last competition is Marian Devlin with 32 points.

The title will be decided on Thursday, September 11th when the LGU Pendant is played for.

The finals of the ladies matchplay singles, the Tirconnail Cup, was staged recently and Kay Doherty got the better of Colette Campbell. The Houston Cup is next up and it sees Antoinette Hegarty and Siobhan McLaughlin take on Mary Bovaird and Pauline McQuillan in a much anticipated final.

Redcastle Ladies

The results of the ILGU Pendant on Monday night last were as follows - 1, Rosie Agnew (24) 72 nett; 2, Jennie Flanagan (18) 74; 3, Margaret Haughey (36) 76.

Next Monday night, September 8th, the Ladies Branch will celebrate their 25th Anniversary with a special nine holes competition for members and guests with a running draw from 4.30 p.m. to 6.00 p.m.. There will be a buffet and presentaiton of prizes afterwards at 8.00 p.m.
