McBrearty, Maguire "Sevens" next week

This year the annual George McBrearty and Charles "Pop" Maguire "Sevens" tournament will kick-off tomorrow week, Saturday, august 16th at the Bishop's Field in Creggan.
The tournament is limited to 16 teams and the event will be run off on the one day.

Organiser, Martin McGilloway, confirmed that the total prize money of £1,000, kindly sponsored by Matt McDaid of the Telstar Bar, will see the winners receiving £600 with £200 to the runners-up and £100 each to those teams defeated in the semi-finals.

The entry fee is £75 per team and teams must consist of seven outfield players and three substitutes.

The tournament will kick-off at 6.30 p.m. with the final scheduled for 9.00 p.m. and the official presentation will be made in the Telstar bar later in the evening.

Music will be supplied by “Celtic Beat” and team wishing to enter should ring 02871-377551 or 07742203625 as soon as possible.
