Oxford maintained their rich vein of form with this comprehensive victory over Ballinamallard last weekend.

The Derry side took the game to their opponents early on with Jack Dixon causing all kinds of problems for the Co. Ferma
nagh side with his power and pace on the left side of midfield.

Indeed, Dixon delivered a fine ball early on but Jordan Thomson's header went narrowly wide of the target. Jordan Armstrong then played a tempting ball in between the Ballinamallard defence and when the keeper hesitated, Dixon brushed him aside and drove the ball into the unguarded net.

Oxford continued to dominate with Shane Brown and Armstrong totally dominant in the centre of the park but, to their credit, the Ballinamallard defence were proving very hard to break down and they were also dangerous on the break.

The second half was very similar to the first with Oxford pressing forward and they got their reward within 10 minutes of the re-start when Corey McKinney unleashed an unstoppable angled drive from 25 yards.

Oxford then opted to retain possession and after good build-up involving McKinney and Brown, Peter Lynch placed the ball coolly into the corner of the net for a 3-0 lead.

Oxford continued to press with young Caolan O’Donnell winning no shortage of possession in the vital midfield area. Indeed, when O’Donnell fed Brown he played a one-two with Steven Duffy before Lynch was set-up at the edge of the penalty area and he skilfully placed the ball into the top corner of the next to round off an excellent Oxford performance.
