The normal three nights of greyhound racing will be staged at Lifford Stadium this weekend but the highlight of the weekend must be the 350,000 euro Paddy Power Derby heats which will be screened on the track's televisions tomorrow night.
But the weekend gets underway with a good 12 race card tonight which include the first round heats in the Nugents Supply 525 yards event.

In all, there will be six first round heats and with 6,000 on offer for the winner, there is sure to be a top class entry of quality greyhounds.

Two top class cards will be featured tomorrow and on Sunday will graded racing and Open races over 350, 525 and 550 yards.

As stated earlier, there will be a real bonus tomorrow night with the first round heats of the 350,000 euro Paddy Power.Com Irish Derby and these will be shown live on the tracks TVs.

This competition is the biggest event on the Irish greyhound calendar and the bookmakers have priced up 12/1 the field Selecting a winner of this competition is no easy task, but my two selections against the field will be the Paul Hennessy trained “Tyrun Kenny” at 16/1 and the Owen McKenna trained “Advantage Johnny” at 28/1.

Tonight and tomorrow night’s cards commence at 8.00 p.m. while Sunday’s meeting gets underway at the earlier time of 6.00 p.m.
