The usual three nights of racing at Lifford Stadium takes place this weekend opening tonight with a quality 12 race graded card over all distances.
Tomorrow and Sunday night’s cards, however, will be the highlight of the weekend with two sets of quality semi-finals to look forward to tomorrow evening.

In the first semi-final of the Cara Hotel 525 yards event, the trap two runner ‘Ring of Foo
ls’ could prove the answer. This October 2006 pup showed a big improvement to finish second in his heat last week and with continued improvement he should win this semi-final. ‘Barnish Gem’ from trap six looks the main danger to the selection.

In the second semi-final, the trap four runner, ‘Sweetrey,’ is a strong running brindle bitch who won her heat last week in good fashion in a fast time of 28.92. If starting on level terms, she will be difficult to beat. The Joe Calvert trained ‘Cal’s Missile’ from trap five is a live danger to the selection.

In the Tote Retention 575 yards event, also to be staged tomorrow night, the Sean Conway trained ‘Farloe Hatton’ is the one to be on after his fast run in last week’s heats.

On Sunday’s card the semi-finals of the Tote Retention Open 350 will be main races of the night. The Brendan Duffy owned ‘Four Fours’ looked to have been unlucky in his heat last week and with a better start he will be difficult to beat.

As normal racing tonight and tomorrow night starts at 8.00 p.m. with racing on Sunday set to start at the earlier time of 6.00 p.m.

Cara Hotel 525 semi-finals - first semi-final - in trap order - 1, Tyrgal Lark; 2, King of Fools; 3, Aileen Alstar; 4, Messan Samba; 5, Ordhan’s Revenge; 6, Barnish Gem

Second semi-final - 1, Siberian Beauty; 2, Mannalishi Razler; 3, Bridging Lough; 4, Calling Sweetrey; 5, Cals Missile; 6, Canaska Dawn.
