Like that scene in Rocky where Stallone is training in the meat locker… like in James Bond when he's testing out his new gadgets…. or in 'High School Music' when they all get ready for the big musical number by leaping about and doing a big musical number; Love the Concept are also deep in preparation.
Derry’s premier (only) comedy sketch group ‘Love the Concept’ are getting ready to represent their city with a month long stop at the Edinburgh International Fringe Festival.
They’re booked in for a twenty seven day run at the festival that was r
esponsible for making big stars out of such acts as Tommy Tiernan, Dylan Moran, The League of Gentlemen, The Mighty Boosh, Sean Hughes, Rich Hall and David O’Doherty.
It’s going to be a hard slog in amongst the heavyweights of the current comedy scene but the group have been limbering up, practising in the mirror and going over their lines like GCSE Grade A nerds!
These four performers are putting their material to the test with three exciting action packed nights at the Derry’s Playhouse theatre - giving Derry a chance to preview some exclusive new material and also give local audiences a sneak peak of what’s going to be going down in the laugh packed streets of Scotland this summer.
Taking their cues from the likes of Monty Python and Father Ted this is the perfect night out for comedy fans.
Building on their sold out and greatly received performance at last month’s comedy club at Masons Bar, here is a chance to see even more material and get a taster of their hotly tipped full theatrical show.
‘The Fever’d Imaginings of… Love the Concept’ will be previewed at The Playhouse Theatre, Artillery Street at 8pm on Thursday, July 2, Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4.
Admission: £6. Contact The Playhouse Box Office on: 71268027.
Arrive early to avoid disappointment.
