'Positive' meeting with Harney

Members of a local cancer action group had a "very intensive, very positive and very detailed" meeting with the Minister for Health yesterday afternoon.
Noelle Duddy, the Culdaff-based spokesperson for Co-operating for Cancer Care North West (CCCNW), told the Journal that the Minister spent an hour and a half with the group discussing many important issues.

"We got absolutely good news on the satellite radiotherapy centre and the roll out of BreastCheck.

Radiation funding
Minister Harney told us that officials from the two health departments recently offered capital funding for the radiation unit at Altnagelvin to the Northern Ireland Health Authority. Senior civil servants also held a meeting at Altnagelvin last week and everything is positive.
The business plan for the centre is due to completed by the end of this month."

The CCCNW delegation included Inishowen representatives in Noelle, from Culdaff, and treasurer George Friel, Buncrana Noelle Duddy, Culdaff.
