Buncrana is to be the county's new civil circuit court capital, it's been revealed.
An extra four weeks of civil circuit court sittings have been scheduled for Buncrana courthouse for 2009 - a dramatic increase from the current nine days per year.
The publication of the 2009 list has been warmly welcomed by Buncrana-based solicitor Ciaran MacLochlainn.
He said he's "delighted" with announcement of the extra sittings. Mr MacLochlainn said the move would will help eat into the backlog of almost 270 outstanding cases.
He added that the move would be "great for the Buncrana economy".
He added: "It will be a good boost for the town as in effect we could be looking at an extra 120 people in the town on each court day.
"Judge John O'Hagan's decision to increase the number of sittings in Buncrana so dramatically means that the town will become the county capital for civil court cases."
