Carn nun celebrates 90th birthday

Sr Mary Catherine Farrelly, a member of the Sisters of Mercy convent, Carndonagh for more than sixty years, recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Born on August 17, 1918, in Ardrum, Ballinamore, Co. Leitrim, Sr Mary Catherine entered the Sisters of Mercy at Carndonagh on 10 October 1942 and remained there until its closure.

Her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends celebrated her birthday with her in St Catherine's Nursing Home, Culmore, where the staff provide excellent love and care.

When the cake was cut, Sr Catherine was able to join in singing Happy Birthday.

Those attending were: Philip & Breege Farrelly, Ardrum, Ballinamore; Bernadette & Martin Dowd; Fenagh, Co. Leitrim; P.J. Bohan, Mohill, Co. Leitrim; Philomena Carron, Longford; Mary, Archie & Bridget Goddard, Andover, England; Tim Farrelly, Co. Tyrone & London; Frank Harvey, Culmore, Derry; Natasha & Tanya Rodgers, Co. Tyrone & London; Anna & Peter McGoldrick, England (Drumbad, Ballinamore); P.J. & Chrissie McBarron; Kinawley; Sarah Hammill, Andover, England.

All the family wish to express their appreciation to Frank Harvey (Culmore) for his daily visits to their aunt and to the Sisters and staff at St Catherine's Nursing Home, Culmore, for their devoted care and attention given to Sr Catherine at all times.
