A number of public art projects are planned for Inishowen, with one marking the peninsula's long history of emigration to North America.
Locky Morris's innovate design for the Quay Point project, which was originally part of the HEART programme, has been put back until next year, to allow for a tree to be imported from the Miramichi region of New Brunswick, Canada.
Declan Sheehan, public art assistant with Donegal County Council, told yesterday's meeting of Inishowen councillors, that a company called Miramichi Timber Frames is donating the enormous tree to the project, as a symbol of the area's ties with the peninsula. Local artist Mark Hill will also be involved in creating the sculpture.
Moville is also to receive a total of 15 new limestone and granite benches this summer, as part of the HEART project.
